PROJECT-1:CAMPUS-WIDE RESTORATION AND BEAUTIFICATION PLAN
The BMGS Alumni Association, Inc., is a 501c3 non-profit philanthropic organization whose sole purpose is the promotion of educational excellence at BMGS, Bori. At the moment, the campus ambiance and aesthetics designed to promote the essential calm and splendor symbolic of a place of higher learning is missing on campus. In view of that, the association's membership has chosen campus restoration and beautification as its first project at BMGS, Bori, Rivers State, Nigeria. The implementation of this project will commence within the months of March and April 2023. Please, see the attached project details below for the Campus Restoration and Beautification Plan. Any individual or organization that is interested in donating towards this project should contact us by email: bmgsalumniassociation@gmail.com
Roof Repairs:
In 2023, a severe thunderstorm destroyed the roof of the senior classroom building. The school authority contacted the Ministry of Education. The appeal for help fell on deaf ears. When the Association was contacted, it quickly responded by initiating a fundraising appeal, which resulted in the raising of millions of naira and the roof was repaired.
(see photos of roof damages before (to the right), work in progress, and after repairs below).

Campus-Wide Restoration and Beautification Project:

Targeted Future Projects

BMGS Assembly Hall Refresh
The Assembly Hall Refresh project focuses on redesigning and upgrading the BMGS Assembly Hall to meet modern standards. Existing architectural drawings and views of the hall were reviewed, alongside proposed future designs and renditions that illustrate the intended improvements. The initial Bill of Quantities (BOQ) estimated the cost of the project at N67,759,000.
Following the Alumni General Monthly Meeting held on August 3, 2025, it was agreed to include a solar power supply system as part of the hall’s upgrade. The solar installation comprises a 5kva hybrid inverter, nine 600-watt solar panels, a 10kw/hr lithium battery, wiring, transportation, and installation accessory. This addition amounts to N5,350,000, bringing the total estimated cost of the Assembly Hall Refresh to N73,109,000 ($48,739).
In a nutshell, The Assembly Hall project involves a comprehensive redesign, including the addition of new toilets, structural improvements, and the integration of a solar power supply system. Architectural drawings and renditions have been prepared to illustrate the transformation as shown by the images
JSS Toilets’ New Building Project
The Junior Secondary School (JSS) Toilets’ New Building Project involves the construction of a dedicated toilet facility for the JSS block. This project addresses the urgent need for improved sanitation facilities for the Junior Secondary School. A site land survey was conducted, followed by the preparation of a site layout plan and floor plan. An architectural rendition was also developed to visualize the proposed structure as shown in the images below.
The project’s BOQ covers both the main building and external works, resulting in a total estimated cost of N83,724,468 ($55,816). This project is expected to significantly improve sanitation facilities for junior secondary school students.

SSS Toilets’ Remodeling Project
The Senior Secondary School (SSS) Toilets’ Remodeling Project addresses the need to upgrade the existing 20-unit toilet facilities within the SSS classroom block. The project upgrade included the preparation of a detailed BOQ for the remodeling work.
The total estimated cost for this remodeling project is N23,180,833 ($15,454), which will ensure that the facilities are modernized and capable of meeting the needs of the senior secondary students.
Welcome Sign at the BMGS Gate Project
The Welcome Sign project aims to design, construct, and install a suitable sign at the BMGS entrance gate to enhance the school’s visibility and identity. At present, the project remains in the planning stage, with details yet to be finalized. Consequently, no cost estimate has been determined, and the project is marked as TBD (To Be Done).

Pending Project Ideas
1 Solar-powered Water Systems
As in all rural areas of Nigeria, BMGS is characterized by poor access to drinking water. There are many health problems linked to the use of unprotected water sources and unsafe water usage. This project will install solar-powered water systems to ensure the supply of safe drinking water for domestic use. The main purpose of this project is to improve the hygiene, and social conditions of the campus environment by providing proper and safe water management.
2 Sustained Electricity Supply
The lack of sustained electricity at BMGS has been a source of concern to everyone and a major impediment to improvement and learning. This project is about providing reliable electricity that is essential to sustaining the well-being and quality of life for students and staff at BMGS.
3 ICT Computer Labs
The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance the quality and quantity of education and related services have become an integral part of education projects. However, use of ICT as a solution to enhance education and related services has not always been recognized as successful due to many reasons including lack of skills, funds, and motivation of the entities involved. While the focus of this project is the use of ICTs for the purpose of improving the quality of education (at BMGS) in this digital age, it will also seek a better understanding of how students use various technologies (learning several computing skills) to support their project collaboration activities in a problem and project-based learning environment.
4 Other Miscellaneous Projects
All other miscellaneous project ideas of significant value and impact to BMGS are open for consideration from time to time.
